NYFW2014: The Fashion Grotto's Favorites!

Dear Tadashi Shoji,

I l o v e your work!

It was hard to chose only 3 looks because I adored them all! I felt like I was swept away into a Claude Monet painting (Mary Poppin's chalk drawing scene anyone?) Each look had a striped element to them.  The placement of the stripes were well thought out and truly highlight just the right spots on a woman's figure.  The 1st look has a thin sheer vertical panel beginning at the center of the collar of the dress and descends to the top of the waist.  Another stripe panel is perpendicular to the vertical panel and continues around the waist.  The third and final panel is located just above the knee showcasing the thinnest part of any women's thigh.

The 2nd look exudes a carefree spirit.  I can honestly say this is the most successful use of stripes I have scene thus far on a garment.  I say successful because as many if not all of you know how intimidating and daunting it is to consider wearing something with horizontal lines.

The 3rd look is what instantly reminded me of a Monet painting http://www.claude-monet.com.
Amongst the floral/water lilly-esq pattern are 3 groups of 2 thin stripes.  Once again the placement is perfect. I especially love the diagonal ones across the shoulder area. It visually elongates the figure and makes the upper body appear leaner.

Without the use of stripes to "break" up the intricate pattern, the dresses would appear heavier and would loose the sense of youthfulness.

Overall, Tadashi Shoji you rocked the runway!
