NYFW2014: The Fashion Grotto's Favorites!

Credits: nymag.com

Derek Lam's 10 Crosby line had an outstanding Spring 2015 collection.  I absolutely adore structured, minimalistic designs such as the majority of this collection. His playfulness with experimenting with proportions is successfully executed.  The earthy color pallet makes the futuristic silhouettes seem more natural and visually appears softer.

The first look is a nod to the 1920's fashion due to the pleated blush colored skirt. Paired with the light brown jacket with over sized pockets it creates a dash of youthfulness and a tomboy edge to the delicate and feminine pleated skirt.  I can picture Ann Reinking's portral of Grace Farrell in the movie, "Annie" wearing this outfit. The second look is fantastic as well! Usually I don't see the appeal in a full jumpsuit however, this one is on another level.  It has qualities of the playfulness and ease of rompers. It also shares a 1920's feel with the first outfit. The dropped waist and thick straps that form a v-shape is the perfect blend of retro and futuristic. I can see a modern day Daisy or Jordan Baker from the "Great Gatsby" sporting this look.

The third and final look is what really captivated my interest when I was viewing Derek Lam's collection for the first time on nymag.com. To put it simply, if I ever get the chance to go to Scotland and or Ireland, I want to frolic in the lush green fields amongst the fairies in this dress. A fashionista can dream ladies. The plunging v-neck line and above the knee length creates a sexy but sophisticated look.  Everything about this dress is just.. yes!
