In the Grotto: OOTW Look Book

August 18, 2015

Burgundy bōˈhēmēən

Fellow fashionistas, I released my inner Pocahontas for this week's look. Did you know the "grotto" is located just around the river-bend? (Que drums...*ba dum tshhh* )

This billowy burgundy blouse by Free People will most certainly bring all the John Smiths to your yard. I purchased it at my local Lord & Taylor Outlet for $25.00! I believe the original price was in the $50-60 price range.

Whether you're going to brunch with friends or family, or simply running daily errands, this look is suitable for several daytime outings!

As always, please scroll to the bottom of the post for store listings!

I love pairing earth tones such as burgundy, with chocolate brown hues for a casual look. For work attire at Anthropologie, I have worn black jeans and black boots with the blouse for a more professional look.

For this outfit I chose a medium-dark rinsed denim short that I made out of existing jeans. Whenever I go shopping for jeans with the intention of cutting them into shorts, I always stick to a $40 limit.  For example I bought these on sale from American Eagle for $20-25.

*Tip: Cut jeans about 2 inches longer then your desired length to ensure you leave enough room for a two-fold hemline.

I'm a big fan of an arm party! If you don't own a leather or "vegan" leather wrap bracelet you should consider stepping up your accessory game because they are a lot of fun to wear! Another perk- they avoid the dreaded "clinking" sound bangles and other metal bracelets make. The white and brown ones featured have an infinity sign silver charm in the middle.

The middle bracelet that has turquoise gems is actually a cuff! It gives the illusion of a set of thin bronze bangles. Whoever invented that concept is a jewelry genius!

These exquisite native american inspired handcrafted earrings were given as a gift from my boyfriend! They are from my favorite jewelry shop called, "Quicksilver Handcrafted Jewelry"  located in Red Bank, NJ.  Highly recommend stopping in to view the nautical inspired jewelry and Native American pieces as well.

In keeping with the shades of chocolate brown, I chose my "milk chocolate" brown Material Girl wedges. They are incredibly lightweight and comfortable to prance around in. I've worn them during a 4 hour shift and survived to tell the tale.

I've been saving the discussion of my beloved Fossil small satchel for last!  About 3 years ago I spotted this bag and the entire patchwork-like collection in a local Fossil store window.  I stared at and drooled over them for a good 5 minutes. The small satchel was calling my name so I went in the store to see it up close. It was love at first hold! Sadly it was mucho expensive so I had to let go. To my surprise I received it for Christmas that year from my parents! To me this satchel was the equivalent of Ralphie's Red Riffle BB gun in, "A Christmas Story".
